Chris Perkins - Chair
If you need some coaching on presentation and business skills, Chris is your man. Or should I say, he's our man (as well as being one of Right Managements top trainers). Chris brings all the charisma and va va voom to the Board. Shaken but not stirred, Chris first got involved when he leapt out of a plane to raise money for Streetwork. Having landed with both feet firmly in our camp he's well equipped to ensure that we never get up to our necks in it!
Julie Fairweather - non-executive director
If there is anything Julie doesn’t know about HR then it’s not worth knowing. The majority of Julie’s career has been spent in the hospitality and catering industry including 5 years based in London. Julie loves the constant “buzz” of the industry and the key role that HR plays in the business. Now at the Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa as HR Director, she joined our board in January 2007 continuing the close relationship Streetwork has with the hotel chain. Julie’s expertise has already proved to be helpful and she doesn’t seem to tire of our endless stream of phone calls asking for advice.
Sarah Chisnall - non-executive director
Sarah is our secret weapon in getting the Streetwork ethos out there. A Director at the international marketing and communications firm Fleishman-Hillard, she advises companies at the most senior of levels on their communication. Specialising in public affairs and government relations she is on our board to make sure our voice is heard in the right place and at the right time. Sarah is a working mum so spends her time juggling a busy work schedule with homelife.
Lesley Blackmore - non-executive director
Lesley Blackmore is the Strategic Development Manager for Lothian Community Health Projects, a post which involves supporting community health initiatives in their work and in their communities to tackle health inequalities, whilst at the same time working strategically and in partnership with other voluntary and statutory organisations within the wider health agenda. When not juggling, balancing and avoiding the pitfalls of professional life she retreats to the garden or leaves the country!
James Melvin - non-executive director
James grew up in the Southside and attended South Bridge primary. He knew The Ark as a local charity and his parents even went there in the early days of the Ark back in the 1930's. He has been a board member of The Ark since 1992, Treasurer since 1998 and joined the Streetwork board as part of the partnership between the two organisations. He's a
chartered accountant, graduate of Edinburgh and Oxford and
works in Telecoms & Media team of Bank of Scotland Corporate. Hobbies are films and reading
Richard Broadhurst - non-executive director
Having arrived in Scotland as a student at the close of the swinging sixties, Richard’s never looked back and has lived here ever since. He spent 21 years with the Forestry Commission based in Edinburgh, working to promote forests for recreation, tourism and community development. He eventually became leader of Secretariat and Communications team at The Forestry Commission. With no two days the same Richard spent his time answering questions on such diverse things as the effects of forestry on wind power, rural development and world class mountain biking trails. Now retired, communication remains a strong interest practised more through writing and painting. He came on board from the Ark Board and intends to get equally as involved with Streetwork. |
