Enabling Digital Inclusion

It is very difficult for people to secure a stable place to live without being able to use a computer and navigate online platforms. Increasingly digital skills are essential as statutory support, education and employment opportunities as well as banking increasingly require online literacy.

We have a number of initiatives to ensure people we support are included in the digital world, and able to access the help and support they need:
  • Access to computers and on-hand support at the Holyrood Hub.
  • Regular digital drop-in sessions to develop people’s skills. These are currently being delivered in partnership with People Know How.
  • Ensuring everyone we support has an email address (and can access their email account) if they want or need this.
Being computer literate and digitally confident can help people exit homelessness and achieve their goals. We’re here to help make this as easy as possible.

“The support has been a massive help. I struggle with paranoia and really low self-esteem. I have had workers in the past who don’t seem to have the time or the patience that I have experienced from my (current) worker. I also felt judged in the past. I felt at ease and comfortable almost immediately and that's massive for me.”
